Jailbreak Only: MyWi Updated - Adds Support For iOS 5.1.1

May 30, 2012
The popular Internet tethering jailbreak app MyWi has recently received an update, and is now compatible with iOS 5.1.1. As reported by Redmond Pie:
MyWi 5.51.1 contains all of the features that one would expect from a piece of software of this nature, including 40 and 104 bit WEP security to stop external parties from connecting to the created hotspot as well the ability to turn on USB and Bluetooth based tethering. The in-app interface shows download and upload statistics to allow tracking of used data, something that is extremely beneficial to those who may be on a limited cellular data plan. With the rebuild of the app for iOS 5, the drain on the device battery was also significantly reduced.
If you have recently jailbroken your iOS device under iOS 5.1.1 using Absinthe 2.0, be sure to update MyWi accordingly. Those of you who have already purchased MyWi can update the application for free - if you're a new MyWi user, the package will set you back $19.99 (though you will be able to enjoy a free trial before having to pay).
