In a recent Twitter update, the jailbreak mastermind @pod2g announced that his iPhone 4 is now jailbroken (untethered) under iOS 5.1. Though no solution is yet available for the general public, the news does mean @pod2g and his "jailbreak dream team" are on the right tracks towards truly "liberating" Apple's most recent version of the iOS.
Here's @pod2g's update:
Heya! My iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1 is now untethered :-) — pod2g (@pod2g) May 3, 2012Currently, it's only possible to achieve a tethered jailbreak solution with the iPhone 4, which works well enough but is hardly convenient. In addition, it's not possible to jailbreak either Apple's iPhone 4S or the new iPad under iOS 5.1. Hopefully @pod2g's progress means he's closer to developing a jailbreak solution for Apple's newer iOS devices, but we won't know anything for certain until the jailbreak mastermind announces the news himself. As always, we'll keep you posted, so be sure to check back with us. [via iDownloadBlog]
