Push Notifications Highlight Spotify Update

Just a few weeks after finally introducing an iPad version, Spotify has updated its iOS app with some laudable new features.
Most importantly, the updated app now has push notifications. You can receive notifications when subscribed playlists are updated, when you receive new subscribers to your playlists, and more. You can choose exactly what notifications to receive through the Settings menu.
The other new feature in version 0.5.1 of the app is an introductory guide for new users.
The update also fixes a slate of bugs. Retina graphics now appear in the iPad login screen and Retina album art is now always synced when you download playlists for offline use.
Other improvements have been made to the Facebook login, screen locking when offline syncing, performance, and stability.
Almost a year after the introduction of the iPhone app, Spotify released a native iPad version in early May that takes advantage of the new iPad’s Retina display.
The Spotify app is universal for both the iPhone and iPad. It can be downloaded free in the App Store, but you must be subscribed to the $9.99 per month Spotify Premium service to use the app.
In my case, and for many others, the iOS app is the best way to interact with the service. So I’m glad to see that Spotify isn’t resting on its laurels and is continuing to update and make its mobile service better.
