Skee-Ball Developer Prepares To Jump For Joy With Upcoming Release Of Jump Dewds!
May 30, 2012
Graveck, the maker of the bestselling Skee-Ball for iOS, is back with a vengeance. Volcanic vengeance. Oh, wait. Make that "volcoinic" vengeance.
Graveck is fast approaching the release of its latest game, Jump Dewds!, which involves a volcano that spews out coins. As the game's backstory goes, the volcano on Dewdawonton Island suddenly begins erupting. And along with lava, lots and lots of coins come out of it. This compels the Dewds, the tiny inhabitants of the island, to jump to collect the coins lest they crumble the ground beneath the Dewds' feet.
"We are incredibly proud of this game and I think it's our strongest yet," said Graveck co-founder Matthew Gravelle. "Coming off the success of Skee-Ball, which is the number thirteen paid app of all time, we undertook a deep creative process where we created many prototypes to refine our ideas of what really makes a top-notch mobile game. We put all of our passion and love into this game, and I think it really shows. We're incredibly excited to share it."
Ahead of its worldwide release, Jump Dewds! is about to begin live testing in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. If you're not an inhabitant of any of those countries, you can still play the game in its alpha form via this Web-based demo preview. Note that where you press the arrow keys to move the Dewds from side to side and the space bar to make them jump, you need only tilt and touch your iDevice to move and jump, respectively.
Designed for both iPhone and iPad, Jump Dewds! will be available soon in the App Store as a free, ad-supported game or as a $0.99 ad-free one. Gravelle has cheekily said that Jump Dewds!, which is set to support both single-player and Dewd vs. Dewd modes, has "far fewer birds, ropes, and fruit than some of the other top titles out there, and we're proud to stand behind that."
