Speaker Of The U.S. House Of Representatives, John Boehner, Meets With Tim Cook

May 16, 2012
The images of a mysterious meeting between Tim Cook and John Boehner, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, have appeared on Boehner's government website.

Unfortunately, the subject of the discussion is unknown - though MacRumors claims that Cook could have been lobbying for a tax holiday that would

allow Apple and other companies with large overseas tax holdings to bring back their earnings at a lower corporate tax rate.
Back in February, Fortune reported that Apple, Cisco, and a number of other companies were looking to "win a one-year tax amnesty on their foreign earnings," which would allow the companies "to repatriate that money at a tax rate of about 5%, instead of the 35% they face now." Indeed, MacRumors could be right in this guess - though as of this moment, we don't know for sure. If any more news hits the Web, we'll let you know - so check back with us.
