SquareTrade Now Provides Warranties For Jailbroken iPhones

May 4, 2012
In great news for jailbreak fans, third-party warranty service SquareTrade announced today that they will now cover jailbroken iPhones. The news was first reported by CNET. Typically, jailbreaking your iPhone voids both warranties from Apple and the respective carriers. Now, SquareTrade will offer warranty service for jailbroken devices of users with new and existing coverage. There is no word on whether jalbroken iPads and iPod touches will also be covered by SquareTrade. But expanding the coverage to iPhones is a very good sign. If you have purchased an iPhone within the last 30 days, you can buy coverage for as little as $59.99 for a one-year warranty on the company's website. Users with older iPhones can purchase coverage via the free SquareTrade app. I was able to find a two-year warranty for my existing iPhone 4S for $149. A $50 deductible does also apply for all claims. If you are a jailbreaker, do you plan on purchasing coverage from SquareTrade?
