This Thief Didn't Think To Disable Photo Stream Before Using Stolen iPhone

May 23, 2012
Back in April, Katy McCaffrey had her iPhone stolen while she was on the Disney Wonder cruise ship - she didn't see who took the handset and, thinking her iPhone was lost forever, gave up hope. Then one day, she checked on her iCloud-powered Photo Stream, and noticed something odd: the thief who stole her handset hadn't disabled Katy's pre-configured services, meaning every image he'd taken on the iPhone - twenty, so far - had been synced to Photo Stream. After examining the images, which have been uploaded to a public Facebook album (entitled "Stolen iPhone Adventures"), Katy has figured out two things about the thief-in-question: first, his name is Nelson; and second, he actually works on the the cruise ship where her iPhone was stolen - as does the thief's girlfriend, who has appeared in a few of the images. Katy has contacted Disney officials who are currently investigating the matter. It looks, at least to me, like she has all the evidence she needs to get her iPhone back - or at least get the thief fired from his job. "Hopefully I'll get my iPhone back and maybe some free passes to Disneyland," Katy said. We'll let you know if there are any developments. In the meantime, be sure to activate Photo Stream on your iPhone handset - because you never know when it might come in handy! Source: Cult of Mac
