Apple Launches Its Employee Discount Program: $500 Off Macs, $250 Off iPads

Back in January, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced a new employee discount program. The new scheme would see Apple employees receive $500 off new Mac computers, and $250 off new iPads. Now, five months after the program was announced, Apple has launched the discount offerings which are available through the company's internal employee portal.
Though the offers are impressive, a number of Mac computers cannot be purchased with the $500 employee discount. The first of these is the Mac mini, which retails for just $599. The second, as 9to5Mac reports, is the Retina display-equipped MacBook Pro models Apple recently announced at its WWDC '12 keynote presentation. For some reason, these new Mac computers aren't currently appearing on the employee discount purchase list.
Furthermore, Apple employees should be aware that they can only take advantage of the aforementioned discounts once every three years. Additionally, employees must have been working for the company for more than three months before they're eligible to use the discounts.
Still, these are great discounts, and Apple employees would be foolish not to take advantage of them. If you're an employee, let us know if you plan on purchasing a discounted Mac or iPad in the comments!
