Being An Eager Beaver Is No Easy Task

June 15, 2012
If there's one disadvantage to being hard-working, it's that your fellows tend to leave all the hard work to you. Just ask the title character in Chillingo's new physics puzzler, Eager Beaver. Eager Beaver is about a broad-tailed rodent named Edgar. (Not Justin?!) Edgar fancies himself an engineer, and he has always been enthusiastic about building things. The thing is, Edgar's fellow beavers, knowing full well about his eagerness, have become lazy and have let Edgar do all the building in their village. So, when a great flood suddenly strikes their habitat, they naturally rely on Edgar to build a dam to hold back the water. And since Edgar is nothing if not an eager beaver, he's more than happy to oblige. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. Eager Beaver takes you from level to level as you assist Edgar in controlling the flood's, er, level. To help Edgar build a functional dam in each round of the game, you must be able to drop various objects into the water and stack them high enough to block its passage. As shown in the trailer above, the game is challenging enough with its use of irregularly shaped objects with different weights. But add the disruptions caused by fish, explosives, magnets, and air pockets, and you have a puzzler that might make you grit your buck teeth in concentration. Developed by Beam creator Gamagio for both iPhone and iPad, Eager Beaver is available now in the App Store for $0.99. Are you eager to play Eager Beaver?
