GoDocs For Google Docs Gives Public Sharing And Other Features A Go

June 26, 2012
Recognized multiple times by Apple as an excellent productivity app, GoDocs for Google Docs, Google Drive has recently received an update that further boosts its already impressive functionality. GoDocs for Google Docs, Google Drive used to have a far less awkward name. It used to be called just GoDocs for Google Docs, but it was given its current name shortly after the launch of Google Drive. In fact, it's touted as the first iOS app to support Google's relatively new file storage and syncing service. Admittedly, GoDocs is, first and foremost, a Google Docs client. And its most recent update, which advances the app to version 3.1, makes this point even clearer with a slew of improvements to its Google Docs integration. The update emphasizes the value of sharing via Google Docs with the app's new sharing interface and Address Book integration. It also enables sharing with Google Groups and Google Apps domains. What's more, public sharing is now supported in GoDocs. If enabled on a particular document, public sharing lets anyone who has a link to the document access and edit it without logging in. Needless to say, this feature ought to be handled with care. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. Beyond its sharing enhancements, the update brings the following useful changes:
  • Improved PDF rendering speed
  • Increased PDF maximum zoom limit
  • New layout for Quick Access Menu
  • New gallery upload with batch select
  • User experience improvements
Furthermore, GoDocs 3.1 marks the effectivity of the first of many localizations for the app. Russian localization is now built into GoDocs, while Spanish, German, French, and Italian localizations are underway. Optimized for both iPhone and iPad, GoDocs for Google Docs, Google Drive is available in the App Store for $4.99. Between this and the previous 3.0 update, whose features are highlighted in the video above, GoDocs is definitely the way to go when it comes to working with Google Docs. Oh, and with Google Drive, too.
