Little Star Sparkles With Newly Added Universal Support
June 15, 2012
By some pleasant coincidence, National Parks by National Geographic happens to be not the only Apple Design Award winner that has gained universal support today. Originally an iPad-only app, BiBoBox Studio's Little Star has been updated with a new iPhone-optimized version.
Alongside Reality Twist's physics puzzler daWindci, Little Star won an ADA under the Student Developer Showcase category. Created by students at Dalian Nationalities University in China, it's an interactive storybook app about five little friends who are out to catch little stars.
Typical of storybooks, Little Star tells a story with important lessons for the little ones. Specifically, it teaches the value of teamwork, as the five main characters learn to work together toward a common goal.

But what sets Little Star apart from most storybooks is its deep-seated interactivity, anchored on the iOS platform's capacity for storytelling.
The app features 30 illustrated, and at times animated, pages. Each page responds accordingly when the device is tilted or when certain spots are touched. In addition, the app is enhanced with amusing sound effects, as demoed in the app's launch trailer above.
Complemented with a couple of fun and interactive kiddie games, Little Star for iPhone and iPad is available in the App Store for $2.99.
