Kickstarter is where ideas go to either gain life, or die horribly. Fortunately, Motrr's Galileo didn't meet a tragic death. Since we told you about it back in March, the Galileo has managed to blow past its $100,000 goal and bring in over $700,000 in pledges. After climbing the mountain that is Kickstarter, the Galileo is now available for pre-order to the public.
If you haven't seen the Galileo, it's a robotic platform for iPhone 4/4S and iPod touch (fourth generation) with infinite spherical rotation capabilities. After docking your iPhone or iPod touch, you can control the pan and tilt of the Galileo using an iPhone 4/4S, iPad 2, new iPad, or the latest iPod touch. This allows you to use the Galileo for panning time-lapses, monitoring your baby, or just keeping track of restless children during a video call.
Here's a video of the Galileo in action:
It's easy to see how the Galileo has gotten so much attention. It's a great idea that is executed well. Plus, it'll give a purpose to your soon-to-be obsolete iPhone 4/4S and fourth generation iPod touch.
If you pre-order now, you'll save 10 percent on the Galileo and get free shipping, which totals to $116.99. Motrr is expected to ship the Galileo "late summer."
Will you be pre-ordering one for yourself?
