Music Magazine The FADER Launches App On Spotify’s Desktop Streaming Service

June 18, 2012
Spotify has teamed up with emerging music magazine The FADER to launch a new app today on the streaming music service. The app, which can only be accessed through the desktop versions of the Spotify client, looks deep inside the archives of the publication’s 13-year history. Each editor of the magazine has curated playlists highlighting a new release of their choosing to giving listeners a guide to that artist’s web of influence and peers. The app can be directly accessed by clicking here. While I like the additional apps on the desktop client, I’d like to see Spotify eventually offer this kind of extra content in its iOS app, which is the main way that I usually access the service. That being said, Spotify does look like it cares about continuing to improve the experience with its iOS app. Just a few weeks after (finally) introducing an iPad version, the company most recently updated its app in late May with the featured addition of push notifications. The Spotify app is universal for both the iPhone and iPad. It can be downloaded free in the App Store, but you must be subscribed to the $9.99 per month Spotify Premium service to use the app.
