MyPad Adds Support For New Social Network With Update

June 7, 2012
The popular MyPad app has added a number of new features highlighted by support for a third, major social network – Instagram. While the app previously allowed users to browse both Twitter and Facebook, version 2.6 adds the popular photo sharing network. And the new version should look a lot better for users of the new iPad as MyPad now supports Retina graphics. Along with other bug and stability fixes, the update also improves the app’s inbox and adds Twitter in-line Instagram/yfrog photos. It also has improved its Twitter support with the addition of direct messaging, search, trends, and conversations in the social network. Other improvements in the update are focused on photos. Users can take advantage of new photo filters and editing tools and view tagged photos of friends. In Facebook, MyPad now allows users to block updates from apps in a news feed. The update also brings Pages support and the ability to post as an administrator. The iPad version of the app has already been updated and the new iPhone edition is expected shortly. There are two editions of the iPad app – a free, ad-supported version and the $0.99 MyPad+ app. The iPhone version is currently $1.99. Both the iPad and iPhone editions offer different themes for in-app purchases. Just to note, you must have a Facebook account even if you want to use the Twitter and Instagram portions of the app. While I've previously shied away from all-in-one social networking apps, the MyPad update looks great on my new iPad. I'll definitely have to try it out, especially with the newly added Instagram support.
