National Parks By National Geographic Goes Universal
June 15, 2012
Fresh out of its Apple Design Awards triumph, National Parks by National Geographic has just been updated with a most welcome universal support.
Released last April as an iPhone-only interactive guide to the most visited U.S. national parks, the Apple-feted app is now optimized for iPad as well. And if you think the original iPhone version is already a beautifully crafted app, wait until you see its new iPad counterpart.
National Parks for iPad is absolutely gorgeous. Especially on the new iPad's Retina display, the app's content is just stunning. In coming up with the new version of the app, National Geographic has taken the impressive design of the iPhone version, skeuomorphic touches and all, and refashioned it for the iPad's bigger screen.
National Parks' universal update also brings a number of improvements. Among these are general performance enhancements and specific ones concerning the app's textual and photographic elements.
The update also fixes a mapped content localization issue for users in Europe. In addition, map integration has been added to Camping & Lodging pages and news items has been improved with links to supplementary Web sites.
National Parks by National Geographic for iPhone and iPad is available in the App Store for free. Park guides are accessible within the app for $1.99 each, except for your first guide download, which is complimentary.
Update or download the app now and revel in its award-winning content.
