New Office² Update Improves Document Editing Capability

June 6, 2012
Office², from developer Byte², has rolled out an update for its popular productivity app today, focusing on improved group collaboration. The app, which allows users to create, edit, and save Microsoft Office documents, now supports new Excel (.xlsx) and PowerPoint (.pptx) file formats to allow for document compatibility regardless of a user’s software version. Also new in version 5.1 of the app, is the ability to track changes along with the option to view and make comments on the Office documents. Support for cloud-based storage providers Microsoft SkyDrive, Egnyte, and Soonr has also been added. Along with various bug fixes and speed improvements, Office² can now open .xls files that have a protected structure while offering better support between .doc and .docx files. There are two different versions of Office². Office² HD, designed for the iPad, can be downloaded for $7.99 in the App Store. Office² is $5.99 and designed for the iPhone and iPod touch. The update for the iPad version is live with the new iPhone version expected shortly. If you’d like to try out the app before purchasing it, you can download the free Office² Plus app for your iPhone/iPod touch. The app allows you to get a feel for the environment, but you’re not allowed the ability to save any documents without an in-app purchase.
