On Your Mark, Get Set, Go: Joe Danger Touch Racing To iOS Soon

June 27, 2012
U.K.-based indie development studio Hello Games said hello to success in 2010 with the release of its debut title, Joe Danger, on PlayStation Network. Kicking off its plans to make the game available on other platforms, it launched a special edition for Xbox Live Arcade late last year. And this year, guess which platform it's heading to. No less than iOS, of course. Acclaimed by critics and beloved by players, Joe Danger is a side-scrolling game about the bold adventures of the titular daredevil biker. It merges racing and platform game elements, with plenty of courses to conquer in gorgeous 2.5-D. Hello Games is set to bring the excitement of playing Joe Danger to the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. But the studio assures prospective players that the upcoming iOS version is no mere port of the original. On the contrary, Hello Games asserts that the game has been rewritten for iOS. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. Much of the variation between the original and iOS versions lies in the game controls. Which is just as well, since the iOS touchscreen is an entirely different beast from the PSN or XBLA's console. No wonder, then, that the upcoming iOS "non-port" has been dubbed Joe Danger Touch. Aside from the made-for-iOS controls, Joe Danger Touch promises new game modes, challenges, and unlockable characters. Game Center is also integrated in the game, so you can race and platform your way to victory against your friends. Joe Danger Touch is expected to leap into the App Store this fall. Our very own Tyler has played a rough build of the game at WWDC. "Even then," he says, "it looked pretty great."
