Relive The Carnage Of Carmageddon On Your iDevice Starting This Summer
June 5, 2012
Back in early May, Stainless Games launched the Carmageddon: Reincarnation Kickstarter project to re-release their hit racing game of carnage and destruction with new features and content for modern platforms. The main focus is on Steam availability, but a generous response by fans has provoked Stainless to expand their efforts, including soon offering a port of the original game for iOS.
Announced a few days ago, the iOS version will feature the same elements as the original PC game, although, graphics and controls have been updated to take advantage of modern mobile device capabilities.
- Universal app for all of your iDevices
- High-resolution graphics
- The choice of analog, digital, or tilt control
- Additional touch gestures for vehicle repair and recovery
- Action Replay interface to review and share the epic destruction
- Game Center integration
“To get Carmageddon working on these new devices, and looking the best it’s ever looked, is just fantastic. And what’s more, I’m now finally able to play Carmageddon on the toilet!” said Stainless co-founder and Executive Director Neil Barnden. “Carmageddon on a mobile is the most fun you can have with your thumbs,” said Patrick Buckland, co-founder and CEO of Stainless Games. “And as a way of saying THANKS to our fantastic Kickstarter Backers for their amazing support, we’re going to launch Carmageddon on the App Store FREE for the first 24 hours!”I can't possibly agree more. One of my obsessions back in the late 1990s and very early 2000s, Carmageddon 2 got major play time on my Mac. I recall everything! There was the hard to handle jelly spring power-up, less hassle clueless pedestrian power-up, extremely difficult to splatter obese citizens, and dramatic moment of splitting your car in two when partially colliding with a wall or K-rail while attempting to take down an opponent or civilian. Stainless is planning for both iOS and Android versions to be available sometime this summer, i.e., Q3 2012. In the meantime, check out the teaser trailer embedded below.
