Simple Tip Brings Permanent End To YouTube iOS App

The native iOS YouTube app was great when the iPhone hit the shelves five years ago tomorrow. But now, the YouTube site is finally HTML5 friendly and plays nice with mobile Safari. And, if you’re so inclined, Macgasm has a nice tip on how to permanently turn off the YouTube app.
Here’s the quick and easy way to do it.
Click Settings.
Then General.
Then Restrictions.
Click Enable Restrictions.
Set a Restrictions Passcode.
Finally, turn off YouTube.
Doing that turns off the YouTube app and stops Safari from automatically opening videos with the app. The YouTube app has never been my favorite, and I’m glad there’s an easy way to put it to rest.
What other apps would you like to be able to simply turn off for good? I think my first choice would be Newsstand.
