AT&T Makes U-verse iOS App Even Better With New Second-Screen Features, Content

July 9, 2012
AT&T is continuing to recognize that iOS devices are quickly taking place of remote controls in households all across the nation. The company recently announced its has added more second-screen features and content on the U-verse app. Most importantly, AT&T has increased its lineup of on-demand and premium TV content through the U-verse app for no extra charge. Additions include HBO, Cinemax, Starz, Encore, Movieplex, and Music Choice videos. Users can also link their iPads to their U-verse TV receiver for access to up-to-the-minute sports companion content and scores from various leagues for today’s games, and a a review of yesterday’s action. The app now has the ability to share information about what is being watched with friends on Facebook and Twitter. Finally, an iOS device using the app can be used to control the U-verse TV with a full-featured remote control containing channel, guide, DVR, interactive app, and on-demand controls. There are separate (but free) U-verse apps for both the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad. Both can be downloaded in the App Store now. But a user must be subscribed to the IP-based television service to take advantage of the new features. The integration sounds really interesting. I wish I had the service in my area, I would definitely give it a look. But if you don't have access to the app, take a look at our app guide for TV channel tracking on the iPad or the best apps to see what's on TV.
