Excel At Pixel Art And Animation With Disney's Pixel'd
July 26, 2012
If there's one thing the great Walt Disney truly championed, it's imagination. And that's just what you'll be working with as soon as you pick up Pixel'd for iOS.
Developed by the same team behind the online creativity destination Create on Disney.com, Pixel'd is a new app that's set to make your imagination go pop.
The app allows you to imagine and draw pixel art and animations, popping pixels into place as you go. The app offers three drawing layers for each canvas, 20 frames for building animations, and flexible shape tools.
Your creations can be entirely your own or they can be made using Disney-themed stamps.
Pixel'd comes with a fair amount of free Disney stamps and fill patterns. But if you wish to have more, you can unlock any of the app's expansion packs via in-app purchase. These include sprites and patterns inspired by "Mickey and Friends," "Disney Princesses," "Bolt," and "Cars."
Additionally, the app is equipped with several sharing capabilities.
Pixel'd lets you share your artwork via Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube, or email. It also syncs your gallery content automatically across your iOS devices.
But no doubt the most notable sharing feature of Pixel'd is Buddy Draw. With Buddy Draw, you and a friend can connect via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi so you can draw together in real time.
Pixel'd is available now in the App Store for free.
Pixel'd is compatible with both iPhone and iPad, but it noticeably lacks Retina iPad support. Be that as it may, Pixel'd makes for a great iOS-based exercise in imagination.
