The Adventures Of Retrobot Fuses Arcade Gaming And Comic Book Storytelling

July 12, 2012
Comic-Con 2012 kicks off today at San Diego, and among the exhibitors there is the dynamic duo of Endeavor Bros and Monkube. Making up a formidable developer-publisher pair, they're set to preview their upcoming iOS game called The Adventures of Retrobot. The Adventures of Retrobot is a story-driven side-scrolling tank shooter game about a Wall-E lookalike robot who sets out to rescue his maker. Retrobot's maker and friend, a socially inept video game junkie, was kidnapped by evil robots. Now, it's up to Retrobot and his simian sidekick Toto to save the day using their, er, extensive knowledge of video game tropes. Hilarity ensues, obviously. Oh, and a lot of mechatronic carnage too. First announced last year via a Kickstarter campaign (see video below), The Adventures of Retrobot is similar to Monkube's Lunar Lander-like game 6th Planet in that it also intercuts game levels with comic scenes. Its tagline, "a fusion of game and comic," says as much. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. In order to ensure the quality of such a fusion, Endeavor Bros and Monkube have enlisted the talents of the following:
  • Ape Entertainment, developer of Pocket God Comics and Cut the Rope: Comic apps
  • Newrosoft, former Gameloft Producer involved with N.O.V.A.
  • Tall Chair, which just recently pioneered the Active Reader technology with Disney/Pixar’s Brave Interactive Comic
  • Maurits ‘Mo’ Goossens, who previously worked on the scores of the Oscar-winning films "The Aviator" and "The Artist"
Designed for both iPhone and iPad, The Adventures of Retrobot is expected to be fully assembled and released later this month. In the meantime, you can participate in the celebration of the upcoming launch by entering via Facebook here to win an iPad or a $500 Amazon gift card. Good luck!
