The AppAdvice iOS 6 Quick Pick: Don't Let A Poor Wi-Fi Connection Slow You Down

The AppAdvice iOS 6 Quick Pick: Don't Let A Poor Wi-Fi Connection Slow You Down

August 8, 2012
The list of new features in iOS 6 has grown yet again. New in iOS 6 beta 4 is a new tool called Wi-Fi Plus Cellular, plus alerts for when shared calendars are changed. The new Wi-Fi Plus Cellular option comes in handy when a Wi-Fi connection is less than ideal. By clicking this option on, users can allow apps that are having trouble communicating via Wi-Fi to use cellular instead. The Wi-Fi Plus Cellular option comes after a similar tool was uncovered in a previous iOS 6 beta release. Users can now decide whether to use cellular for iCloud documents, iTunes, FaceTime, Passbook updates, and Reading List. Both of these new features are accessible under Settings > General > Cellular. Meanwhile, under Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, you'll find a toggle for Shared Calendar Alerts. When enabled, iOS will notify the user whenever new, modified, or deleted shared calendar events occur. We've uncovered quite a few new iOS 6 features in the latest beta now available for developers. These include Bluetooth sharing, changes to the Maps app, and much more. Apple is expected to release iOS 6 to the public this fall. Keep in mind, some of the features mentioned here and elsewhere may not be included in the final iOS 6 release. Developers who have found other new features in iOS 6 beta 4, please let us know by emailing tips@appadvice.com. We thank reader Lance for these latest tips.
