Last month, we told you AT&T was planning on launching its own shared data plans - called "AT&T Mobile Share" - which would allow customers to share data between family members and mobile devices. Now, the company has announced that its sharable plans will launch in just a couple of weeks, on August 23.
The news came in a press release that recently hit the Web:
Our new AT&T Mobile Share plans will be available starting Thursday, Aug. 23. As families prepare to send students back to school, many are looking for a convenient way to connect tablets and laptops or add new smartphones. AT&T Mobile Share plans are a great option. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to pick the plan that works best for you. We’ve added a Mobile Share Planner tool at www.att.com/mobileshare. The tool is a simple way to estimate your current usage on each device. It automatically calculates your total estimated usage and recommends the right Mobile Share plan, from 1 GB to 20 GB. The tool also shows you the estimated costs for that plan. However, it's not all good news: shared data plans are always going to be expensive, and whether you're with AT&T or Verizon, the cost for hooking-up a couple of iPhones and an iPad on either "Mobile Share" or "Share Everything" will be high. Nevertheless, it's nice to see AT&T finally launching these new plans, even if they are appearing a couple of months late. Are you planning on taking advantage of "AT&T Mobile Share?"
