Get Cracking With The New Themed Gameplay Of Word Cracker
August 28, 2012
Word Cracker, the iOS word game I called “the self-proclaimed messiah of abandoned vowels evrywhr” when it launched last March, has just received its first major update.
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, Word Cracker is a word puzzle game. And if “Word Cracker” were to be one of the puzzles in the game, it would appear as “Wrd Crckr.” That’s because Word Cracker is a game that challenges you to provide the missing vowels in a series of vowelless words.
Sounds rather easy, right? Think again. Since its release, Word Cracker has been a favorite iOS game of mine, thanks in no small part to its carefully calibrated combination of ridiculously easy puzzles and deceptively difficult ones.
Take for example two new puzzles that have just been included in the game through the update: “Mdgscr” and “nd.”
“Mdgscr” is, quite obviously, the vowelless form of “Madagascar.” It took me no time to solve that one. But when it came to “nd,” I was so stumped for a while that I almost passed on it. Luckily, I realized that it “nd” is just good, old “India” sans vowels. Almost got me there, Word Cracker!
“Mdgscar” and “nd” are just two of the more than 1,300 new words added by the most recent update to Word Cracker. These new words are bundled within the game’s new themed mode, which serves as an alternative to the game’s classic mode.
Word Cracker’s new themed mode contains nine themes. You can select from the Periodic Table, Human Body, and Living Things themes. And if you’re a sports fan, you can start the ball rolling on the new Sports Terms theme.
You can also learn about history and geography while having fun with the Countries, U.S. States, U.S. Capitals, U.S. Cities, and U.S. Presidents themes.
The new themed version of Word Cracker is available now in the App Store. In celebration of its first major update, the game is fr fr lmtd tm. That’s right, Word Cracker is free for a limited time. So, download the game now and start putting those vowels in their rightful place.
