While endless runners have been all the rage in the App Store gaming category, a new app landing on Thursday places its emphasis on speed running.
Mikey Shorts is a 2-D platformer that rewards a player on how fast they can steam through a level. The faster you complete a level, the better your star score.
You can run, jump, and slide around levels rescuing people and collecting coins to buy fun disguises. There will be more than 100 disguises to purchase for your avatar’s head, eyes, or face, which could lead to some interesting combinations.
In-game leaderboards will be available to access through Game Center.
Here’s a quick promo video about the game. Click here if you can’t see the video.
The fun looking title is coming from new developer BeaverTap Games. Designer Mike Meade and programmer Mike Gaughen met on a message board dedicated to iOS game Hook Champ. After battling each other for more than a year, the pair decided to team up to create their own title.
Mikey Shorts will be a universal game available for both the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad. It will cost $0.99 in the App Store.
And keep a look out for our review that should go live soon after the game is released.
