Here's My CardFlick, So Call Me Maybe?

August 2, 2012
CardFlick has flicked the switch on another update today. The new update finally gives the digital business card app its own card customization functionality. You know how people say the best camera is the one that's always with you? Well, CardFlick proposes a similar statement: the best business card is the one that's always with you. With the app installed on your iPhone (which is the best phone, period), you can always have your business card with you. And you can share your card easily with others with just a flick on your iPhone's screen. It's like bumping phones to share contacts via Bump, except that CardFlick requires flicking to share cards. Last March, CardFlick introduced a card customization feature called InstaCards on its companion website. Now, CardFlick has brought InstaCards to the app itself. Where it previously said "My Card" in CardFlick, it now says "Customize." Tap the "Customize" tab to see your card's current design and tap "Edit" to start customizing your card right on your iPhone. As outlined by CardFlick developer kidBombay, the newly InstaCards-equipped app lets you:
  • Grab any theme from our expanded collection – remix it and make it your own
  • Pull in your Facebook and Instagram photos to make your card sing
  • Upload that special image just for your card
  • Pick a color, any color, for your text
  • Set your accents to make it pop
The new version of CardFlick is available now in the App Store for free. The app also has a new "Profile" tab, wherein you can edit the details that appear on your card. For some reason, though, the app crashes every time I try to save the changes I make in my profile. I find that a visit to the companion website is necessary for me to proceed with my desired profile changes. Other than that persistent glitch, I must say the new version of CardFlick works beautifully. And did I mention that the built-in card designs aren't so bad either?
