SBSH Mobile Adds Striking New Themes And Features To PocketWeather

August 28, 2012
SBSH Mobile Software's iPhone and iPad weather app, PocketWeather, hasn't gotten unanimous praises by the iDevice owning community. However, the company continues to move forward, recently adding notifications, new themes and customization, as well as a "Lightning Stopwatch." Probably considered a long overdue feature by most, notifications provide information on both severe weather and earthquake events. Along with always being accessible in the More, formerly Settings, tab, notifications seem to be displayed at launch when new alerts have been issued. In addition to notifications, PocketWeather v4.0 includes a Lightning Stopwatch. Very similar to what you see during weather reports on TV, the stopwatch shows the location of lightning strikes in your area and provides details of frequency. To activate, tap and hold on any lightning bolt icon on the radar map until you hear thunder. As for appearance altering, SBSH has provided additional View themes and WeatherIcons. Themes are changed by performing a tap and hold at the bottom left of any of the View panels. There are several built-in options, plus some custom choices available for download. In contrast, Weather icon selection is done within the WeatherIcons section of the More tab. Rounding out the v4.0 update are performance enhancements and several bug fixes. PocketWeather is a universal app compatible with iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch running iOS 3.1 or later, and available in the App Store as a free download. For no ads and premium features, PocketWeather Pro is available for $4.99. [gallery link="file"]
