TestFlight Unveils New Desktop App In Beta Form

August 20, 2012
The company behind TestFlight, a popular beta testing tool for developers, has just announced a beta version of its own desktop app. If you haven’t heard of TestFlight, the free service is a big help to developers. Before officially releasing apps in the App Store, developers can use TestFlight to beta test and fine tune any lingering issues. It’s also an important way for AppAdvice to bring you exclusive scoops on new apps. And the new desktop app has four major features. First, the app will automatically notify users of any new iOS archives and provide access to the most recent archived apps directly form the menu bar. The app will also find the correct dSYM and upload it automatically. The app also has a number of permission settings. Users can choose testers directly or via distribution lists. Finally, the desktop version does all the heavy lifting and uploads the information to a content delivery network at maximum speed. If something happens to your Internet connection during the upload, it will pick up the process where it left off when things get back to normal. If you’re interested, you can download a beta version of the app directly from TestFlight’s site. TestFlight has had a busy year. Along with the desktop app, TestFlight Live was launched earlier this year. That service allows developers to see how well their apps are selling and how well in-app purchases are doing.
