Tim Cook To Discuss Ending Feud With Samsung For Third Time
August 20, 2012
Apple CEO Tim Cook and Samsung CEO Kwon Oh Hyun are expected to attempt to reach a settlement in their patent infringement case. The private talks, which will happen by telephone, are being held in the hopes of resolving issues between the two companies before a jury begins deliberations in the ongoing trial being held in California, according to Bloomberg.
This will be the third meeting between Cook and Samsung’s CEO. In May, the Cupertino executive met with Samsung’s previous CEO, Choi Gee-sung. Prior to the start of the trial last month, Cook again met with Samsung officials. Neither meeting led to a resolution.
If the sides fail to come to a resolution, deliberations are expected to begin with the jury convening as early as tomorrow, Aug. 21.
The case in U.S. District Court Northern District of California is Apple Inc. v. Samsung Electronics Co Ltd et al, 11-1846.
