Toybox Is Designed For The Serious Multi-Tasking Gamer

An upcoming app from developer Barrel of Donkeys is for the serious multi-tasker. Toybox is a game about doing two things at once, combining a shooter with a match-three puzzler.
Taken individually, both types of game are usually pretty easy to play. But combining the two takes things to a new level makes it a challenge to master.
The app sees players shooting enemies on one side of the screen to drop a colored block on the other. You then stack the blocks to score points, power up your weapons, and earn extra lives. Each week, the level changes and a new race to the top of the high score leaderboard starts anew.
Players can try to perfect the interaction between the two sides to score block combos, weapon upgrades, and smart bombs to take down enemies.
And when you believe you are close to defeat, you can place one last block to earn an extra life and fight another day.
Here’s a quick trailer. Click here if you can’t see the video.
The game is expected to be released on Aug. 23. There was no price announced, but we’ll keep you up to date. The app will be for the iPhone and iPod touch.
Toybox definitely looks interesting, and I’m looking forward to seeing how difficult trying to play the two different games at once really is.
