Which Carrier Will Win The 4G/LTE iPhone Game?

August 22, 2012
A new survey suggests that many consumers don’t feel that they will need 4G/LTE connectivity when it arrives on the next iPhone. The Piper Jaffray survey of 3,000 individuals in the U.S. suggests carriers have a long way to go to educate consumers on what the connectivity actually means, according to AppleInsider. According to the survey, 47 percent say they have no interest in using 4G/LTE, while another 26 percent indicated they feel all 4G network technologies are the same. By contrast, 15 percent of those polled said that 4G/LTE is the best network technology available today. Digging deeper, 55 percent said that they would be buying Apple’s next handset. Of those, 44 percent said that they would choose Verizon as their next iPhone provider. This compared to 29 percent for AT&T, 14 percent for Sprint, and 13 percent for T-Mobile. T-Mobile is not currently an iPhone carrier, although that could soon change.

The results of this survey suggest that many consumers are not yet educated on what 4G/LTE means. With this in mind, the network someone chooses may depend on both who does a better job at educating consumers on the technology, and who can provide a better experience in their specific area.
