App Store Scam: Blocks World Pro - Another Faux Minecraft App
by Joe White
September 3, 2012
Less than a month after we told you about the last faux Minecraft application, a brand new scam-app has appeared in our beloved App Store, this time called "Blocks World Pro."
Featuring Minecraft-like sample images and an application description that might fool unsuspecting App Store frequenters ("This is a game like minecraft, you can craft things and build your own world. Create and mine what you imaging."). Blocks World Pro is nothing more than a downright scam of an app - and an expensive one too, with a price tag of $1.99.
Already, the application has claimed a number of victims (and, deservingly, has accrued several one-star reviews). But that doesn't mean iDevice fans aren't going to continue to fall for the scam. Apple, if you're reading this, please remove this app! And while you're at it, let the App Store review team play around with Minecraft – Pocket Edition, so they have an idea of what a real Minecraft iOS app is like.
Thanks Joakim for sending this in. Do you know of an App Store scam we haven’t reported on? If so, get in touch via email, and we’ll warn the masses!
