AppAdvice Game Of The Week For September 21, 2012
Every week, our staff will handpick a game from the past two weeks that we believe is a must-download for your iPhone or iPad. These games will always be from a wide variety of genres, but they are chosen because our own staff members love it and can’t quite put it down. So here are this week’s picks! Enjoy, and happy gaming!
Space Holiday
Happy iPhone 5 day, folks! Why not add a fantastic new line-drawing puzzle game to your shiny new toy? Space Holiday is a cute and colorful puzzle game that was made for a device like the iPhone and iPad.
With Space Holiday, you must help Nico travel through space during his vacation. But in order to travel from planet to planet, he will have to create portals with some help from the stars.
Space Holiday features four different chapters, each with 20 different levels. You will use your finger to tap on the stars and connect them to each other, making sure to close the portal by going back to the first star. Lines cannot cross paths, and you will have to avoid getting those mean asteroids caught in the portal.
The game starts out pretty easy, but you will come across different types of stars as you get farther along in the game. There will be ninja stars that can clear any obstacles in its path, sleepy stars that stop moving once you tap on them, and even stars that have suction cups for pulling in other stars. There are a lot more to find as you advance.
You can earn up to three stars on each level, depending on how many moves you complete it in. If a level is too difficult, you can always skip it and come back to it later. You will need a certain amount of stars to unlock the later chapters. There is also the Space Ray tool that you can get through in-app purchases, which will turn any asteroids into stars.
The game is available on your iPhone and iPad, though it’s not a universal version. Both versions are available at $0.99 a pop.
Our staff at AppAdvice has been playing this charming puzzler this week, and we are rather enamored by it, and we’re sure you will be too. Make sure to give it a try if you love puzzles.

Honorable Mention
Cosmic Bump
Here’s another puzzle game for you guys. Cosmic Bump is one of Chillingo’s recent titles, and it combines ball drop games, pinball, and some other fun arcade action.
With this game, players will be asked to help cute, squishy creatures from another planet get enough energy to get their spaceship working once again. In order to do this, you’ll have to shoot an alien out of a launcher and help guide them through a vertically orientated obstacle course.
The adorable little guy will bounce off of walls and platforms while collecting energy bubbles, and hey, it may also land in another launcher that will propel him up or down the course. This game puts your fate in the hands of physics. If you are able to collect all of the energy bubbles required, you can move on to the next level. If you don’t, however, your guy will go splat on the ground and you can try again with another one. You get three tries for each level, but losing one guy will mean you lose a star.
Cosmic Bump has six different worlds with 15 levels each. There will be enough content in the game to keep you entertained for a while. We’ve been checking out the game ourselves here at AppAdvice and rather enjoy it. Make sure to give the Cosmic Bump a try for yourself.
