Good news if you haven’t purchased an iPhone 5 yet and live near an Apple retail store. According to 9to5Mac, Apple is planning on launching its Personal Pickup service for the new handset starting tonight.
Starting at 10 p.m. ET, customers can surf on over to Apple’s website or use the free Apple Store App to pre-purchase and reserve an iPhone 5 to pickup the next business day at their selected store if one is available.
Users must pickup their phone the next day, or their credit card will be refunded. If the specific iPhone 5 isn't in stock for the next day, users can continue to try the service until they find what they want.
And with Apple quoting a 3-4 week wait for units ordered via its website, the Personal Pickup service seems to be a great way to go if you’re in the market for the iPhone 5. I used it to pickup my iPhone 4S last year at a local Apple Store, and it couldn’t have been any easier. I quickly walked in, had my payment method double-checked and walked right out with my new phone.
Apple announced earlier today that more than 5 million handsets were sold during the launch weekend. After originally being available in nine countries, the iPhone 5 will be on sale in 22 more countries Friday.
