Apple has officially launched iOS 6 for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad. The free iOS update is available over the air or through iTunes.
First unveiled in June, iOS 6 includes 200 new and updated features, including a Google-free Maps app, Facebook integration, the new Passbook app, and a Siri upgrade.

Mobile Safari
Your surfing experience is about to get even better with iOS 6.0. Coming this fall, you’ll be able to use iCloud Tabs, which keeps track of which pages you have open on all of your devices. Additionally, Mobile Safari will also including your very own Reading List, which are saved Web pages, not just links.
Shared Photo Streams
Now you can share just the photos you want, with just the people you choose. To do so, simply select the photos you want from the Photo app, then tap the Share button. Friends using iCloud on an iOS 6.0 iDevice or a Mac running OS X Mountain Lion will get their photos delivered automatically in the Photos apps or iPhoto application.
VIP Mail
With VIP, you’ll never again miss an important message from those closest to you. Additionally, Apple has now made it easier to add photos and videos to your email messages. Plus, to refresh your mailboxes, all you have to do is swipe down using your fingers.
Lost Mode
Apple’s new Lost Mode lets an owner send a phone number to a missing iDevice. Then, when someone finds your iPhone, for example, all they have to do is tap on the message to call you back.
Camera with Panorama
The new panorama feature for iPhone and iPod touch lets you capture everything from a momentous family reunion photo to a sweeping vista.

To begin the update process on your iOS device, go Settings > General > Software Update and follow the directions.
