Apple Lets You Easily Donate To Charity To Aid Superstorm Sandy Relief

Just a couple of hours ago, we told you how you can help raise money for Hurricane Sandy relief by buying a Letterpress T-shirt from Atebits and United Pixelworkers. But we're here to tell you about another way of helping the victims of the recent superstorm, which was first pointed out by MacRumors. This new way is actually more direct, since you'll simply be using your iTunes account. As noted by MacRumors, Apple has begun accepting donations through a special Hurricane Sandy Relief page on the desktop iTunes Store and the iOS App Store. Donations are available at $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, and $200 denominations and are turned over to the American Red Cross in aid of storm relief efforts. Whichever amount you choose will be billed to the credit card associated with your iTunes account:

iTunes will transfer 100% of your donation to the American Red Cross. Because iTunes is not sharing your personal information with the American Red Cross, the American Red Cross is unable to further acknowledge your donation. You will receive an email receipt from the iTunes Store which will serve as your only acknowledgement of your donation. The donation will also appear on your credit card statement as a transaction with the iTunes Store.

Note that you cannot make a donation using your iTunes Store credit. Apple had previously let customers contribute to overseas disaster relief through its similar donation pages for Haiti and Japan in the last couple of years.
