As It Turns Out, Even A Blot Of Ink Can Have Fun During Halloween

October 25, 2012
Blot — which we here at AppAdvice deem "perhaps the best hand-drawn game. Ever." — has drawn its way to its near-inevitable Halloween update. Blot is an endless running game that's a bit reminiscent of Jetpack Joyride. But instead of the jetpack-equipped Barry Steakfries, what you play as in Blot is a blot of ink called, quite simply, Blot. It just so happens that Blot is a rather adventurous fellow. And so, with your mastery of the game's one-touch control system, you must guide Blot as he flies through an endless expanse of paper. Three months ago, to celebrate Fourth of July, the game came out with a challenge mode recreating Paul Revere's famous journey from Boston to Concord. This time, to celebrate Halloween, Blot is going trick or treating in a new challenge mode called Halloween Hustle. Halloween Hustle takes Blot on an exciting flight against a dark backdrop of bats, witches, and skulls. In this new mode, which requires 5,000 coins to unlock, you can collect candy and knock on doors to get a trick or treat. But you have to avoid the candy-stealing ghosts, unless you've gathered enough ooze to be able to scare them away. Compatible with both iPhone and iPad, but not yet optimized for iPhone 5, Blot is available in the App Store for free. The new, Halloween-ready version of the game also includes six new, scary outfits that Blot the blot can wear in honor of the occasion. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
