Geekbench has gotten its paws on the fifth-generation iPod touch, and has engaged the new touchscreen iPod in head-to-head benchmark combat with some of our favorite other iOS devices. The results, as you can see in the chart below, are somewhat expected.
The iPhone 5, with its Apple A6 (1300 MHz) processor, is top dog, scoring a benchmark of 1,572-1,573. Following the sixth-gen iPhone is the third-generation, A5X-powered iPad, which clocks in at 788-823. The iPad 2 and iPhone 4S all follow the iPhone 5 and third-gen iPad.
Then, almost midway down the list, is the fifth-gen iPod touch. Its Apple A5 (800 MHz) dual-core processor secures it a benchmark score of 617. This isn't a bad score, but as you can see, there are a number of faster iOS devices out there. Below, we've included a chart showing off Geekbench's benchmark scores, for your viewing pleasure.
