While iOS devices are thought of as being the next-generation of gaming, a new accessory from Gameloft and Duo Games definitely turns back the clock.
The new Duo Gamer is a handheld game controller with dual analog thumbsticks, six buttons, and a d-pad. To use the system, dock your iOS device in the included stand, and connect wirelessly via Bluetooth. Gamers can also connect their iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to a television for a more immersive experience.
The controller is compatible with Gameloft apps like N.O.V.A. 3, Asphalt 7: Heat, and Order & Chaos Online. Support for Brother in Arms 2: Global Front, Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation and other titles are promised as coming soon.
The controller is $79.99 and can be found on Apple’s online store starting Friday along with Amazon.com and Target stores nationwide.
While I definitely like the idea of the controller, I think its long-term success will depend on the number of compatible games. But if you’re a fan of Gameloft titles, it does look like a must-have accessory.
I previously reviewed the Duo Plink from Duo Games, and was very pleased with the hardware. I’m excited to take a closer look at the controller and see if the games play any differently than with the on-screen controls.
