Longform's First Major Update Is Not Short On Improvements
October 2, 2012
Longform has just been treated to its first ever major update since its launch way back in February this year.
Longform is an — if not the — elegant reading app dedicated to longform writing.
Designed for iPad, it offers a collection of the latest in-depth articles from some of the most popular magazines around the world. As well, it includes interesting reads curated by the editors of the app's parent website, Longform.org.
Longform's first ever update brings several big improvements along with a few small but nonetheless welcome ones.
Foremost among these improvements is the new dark mode. Said to be the most requested feature for the app, dark mode is ideal for nighttime reading. It can be enabled globally in the settings menu or locally while reading an article.
Longform has also gained support for more magazines. In addition to those enumerated by Christine in the comments section of her review of the app, the following magazines are now included in Longform:
The updated Longform app also features three new fonts, namely, Hoefler Text, Tisa, and Palatino. These can be found in the new finer-tuned text settings menu. The update also improves the app's ability to bookmark articles to Instapaper, Pocket, and, of course, Readability, which itself is integrated with Longform. Now optimized for iOS 6, Longform is available in the App Store for $1.99. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
