Plenty Of Tricks And Treats Await As You Get Wiped Out In Wipeout

October 27, 2012
Wipeout, the iOS game based on the popular reality game show, is also out to celebrate Halloween with its very own spooky update. Released a couple of months ago, Wipeout challenges you to conquer crazy obstacle courses. Unsurprisingly, some of these, including the Topple Towers and the infamous Big Balls, are patterned after the TV show. But others are new ones created specially for the game. In your attempt to conquer the game's various obstacles, Wipeout lets you choose from a wide range of contestants, each of whom has his or her unique quirks and abilities. Wipeout's Halloween update is actually geared toward the game's obstacles and characters. The update brings two Halloween- and alien-themed shows in the game with their corresponding special obstacles and characters. In particular, there's a new alien character and he goes by the totally terrestrial name of Conrad. The update also offers new character customization options in the form of new outfits and Halloween-themed premium costumes. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. Beyond its Halloween motif, though, the update also delivers the following general improvements:
  • Daily gift system for repeat plays
  • New character animations
  • Eliminator round now allows up to five chances
  • New replay enhancements
  • Left-handed controls
  • All shows are now also "unlockable" by using hard currency
  • "More Games" button/panel allows players to see other games from Activision
  • Screenshots can now be shared on Twitter
  • "Gift the app" button has been added
  • News Ticker on main menu has been added to promote new features of Wipeout and other ATVI apps
  • Miscellaneous stability improvements
Compatible with both iPhone and iPad, but not yet optimized for iPhone 5, Wipeout is available in the App Store for $1.99. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
