AppAdvice App Of The Week For November 12, 2012
Every week, our staff will handpick an app from the past two weeks that we believe is a must-download for your iPhone or iPad. These apps will always be from various categories, but they are chosen because our own staff members love it and have been using them daily. So here are this week’s picks! Enjoy!
Colorstrokes HDOur top app pick for this week will have you splashing some color onto your photos from your iPad! That’s right — the iPad version of ColorStrokes is here!
ColorStrokes used to go by the name of Color Splash Studio, but recently changed to ColorStrokes. It also was previously iPhone-only, but now there is a native iPad version to make selective coloring easier than ever before.
With ColorStrokes HD, you get all of the same core features that were in the iPhone version, as well as the Mac app. However, it is now designed with the large screen estate of the tablet in mind (iPad and iPad mini), so it’s a better overall experience.
There are some new things in the iPad version though, such as the streamlined bottom toolbar. It includes functions that will suit any of your selective coloring needs. There are also provisions for color masking, grayscale, and painting tools, with brush, adjust, and effects settings. If you make mistakes, there are buttons to easily undo or redo your actions, or even complete them.
The iPhone version has been a staff favorite for a while now, so we are extremely pleased to see a full iPad version available. It’s one of the best specialty photography apps out there, and we’re sure you’ll love to have it on your iPad. You can get it for $1.99 for your iPad and iPad mini in the App Store.

Honorable Mention StatNutWe all have Internet egos to maintain, so why not keep track of your stats with an app? StatNut will turn you into a nut about your Internet account statistics, but in a beautiful way.
On launch, the app will feature a screen full of tiles with many recognizable logos of social networks. Tap on one of them to add your account. Currently, StatNut supports Dribbble, Twitter, Facebook, Vimeo, YouTube, Tumblr, and Instagram. For most of these accounts, all you need to enter is your username, and there is multiple account support. However, for Instagram and Facebook, you can only have one. Tumblr will require your email and password.
When you get things set up, you can easily see the numbers associated with the accounts in a gorgeous, easy-to-read large sans serif typeface. Each ribbon can scroll left and right to reveal more information, and you can view your profiles or edit the accounts. They are color coded as well, depending on the network, so that it is easy to tell them apart. Pulling the screen up will allow you to add more accounts, and pulling it down will refresh your statistics.
This is a beautiful way to keep track of your online ego, so if that matters to you, then make sure to give this a download. It’s only $0.99 in the App Store.
