Right after the introduction of iTunes 11, Apple has also updated its iOS Remote app and unveiled new firmware for the second- and third-generation Apple TV.
First up, version 3.0 of the Remote app is boasting a brand new look. In the iPad version of the app, the interface mirrors the desktop look of iTunes. Users can see all the songs in an album with the expanded view. And a more powerful search also delivers results as you type.
Both versions of the app also feature Up Next that allows music lovers to browse their library and see and edit upcoming songs.
Remote is a universal app designed for both the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad. It can be downloaded in the App Store now.
Apple TV has also been updated to version 5.1.1 to presumably work with the new iTunes version and Remote app. Hopefully, the new firmware will also quell some of the issues with the last release.
Version 5.1 was released in September, and brought many iOS 6-like features to the mix, including Shared Photo Streams and more. But many users claimed that the update made their boxes inoperable.
To update their Apple TV software, users can go to Settings, General, and then Software Update.
