New iOS 6.1 Beta 2 Includes Fancy New Passbook Card With Instructions
November 12, 2012
In the new iOS 6.1 beta for developers, Passbook comes with a new card that provides users with more detail about what the app is and why you should use it. The card also includes a link to Passbook apps currently available in the App Store.
First uncovered by 9to5Mac, the card features colorful icons and the following text:
Passbook puts your boarding passes, movie tickets, retail coupons, loyalty cards, and more all in one place. They’ll also be ready on your lock screen just at the right time and place. You can add passes to Passbook through apps, emails, and websites from participating airlines, theaters, stores and more. This message is significant for two reasons. First, it explains to users how cards will show up on the iPhone's lock screen when necessary. Second, Apple is reminding users that passes don't require a separate app to work. Instead, passes are available through emails, websites, and apps. This isn't the only change Apple has made to Passbook in recent days. Last week, the Apple Store app was updated and now includes Passbook integration. The Amtrak app has also gained Passbook support. Apple has yet to announce when iOS 6.1 will be made available to the general public. We'll keep you updated.
