Owners of pre-A5 iDevices can now jailbreak their smartphone or tablet using Sn0wBreeze 2.9.7. As with redsn0w, this new jailbreak tool can only provide a tethered jailbreak solution (though, from what we've heard, an untethered solution for iOS 6.0.1 is in the works).
As outlined over at iH8Sn0w's blog:
Just to reiterate: if you have an A5-, A5X, A6- or A6X-powered iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, neither Sn0wBreeze 2.9.7 or redsn0w 0.9.15b2 will be able to jailbreak your iDevice. However, the iPhone 3GS and A4, "fourth-gen" iDevices can be jailbroken using both Sn0wBreeze and redsn0w. For more information, including download links, head over to iH8Sn0w's blog.
- Added 6.0 (10A403)/6.0.1 (10A523) support. (Only includes iPhone 3GS & A4 devices).
- The 6.0/6.0.1 is currently a tethered based jailbreak via iBooty (except for iPhone 3GS old bootrom users).
- SAM is built-in for iOS 6 hacktivations. (Hacktivated phones can reboot to a semi-tethered state after being activated [rather than just hang at the Apple Logo]). Kudos @sbingner!
