Late last month, Apple reported total iPhone sales during of the quarter of 26.9 million units. At the time, the company did not breakdown sales according to iPhone model. During the quarter, Apple also sold the now-retired iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4.
During the month of September, the Galaxy III officially overtook the iPhone 4S as the nation’s best selling smartphone. However, that streak most likely ended the following month as the iPhone 5 took over.
