Amazon Updates Kindle App To Add X-Ray Feature For Books

December 4, 2012
Are you ready for an X-ray? Amazon has updated its Kindle iOS app to add the function for books. First introduced with the Kindle reader, the function is powered by Wikipedia and Shelfari.com. X-ray is designed to explore the structure of a book and its most essential ideas, character , and topics. The feature isn’t available on all Kindle books, but it is very handy when available. The feature was rolled out for textbooks in an app update in late October. I’m an avid reader, and the X-ray function on my Kindle was one of the reasons I’ve yet to switch over to using the iOS app. I may have to finally load the app on my iPad and iPad mini now. Version 3.5 of the app also adds Manga image rendering improvements. The Kindle app is universal and designed for both the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad. It is optimized for the larger 4-inch screen of the iPhone 5 and fifth-generation iPod touch. It can be downloaded in the App Store now.
