Hackulous, Along With Its Popular Installous Jailbreak App, Goes Kaput
December 31, 2012
Hackulous is no more. The team behind Installous, the popular jailbreak app that allows for the installation of unofficial iOS apps, says as much.
First reported by iDownloadBlog, the shutdown is announced and explained by the team through a short note on the Hackulous website:
Goodnight, sweet prince. We are very sad to announce that Hackulous is shutting down. After many years, our community has become stagnant and our forums are a bit of a ghost town. It has become difficult to keep them online and well-moderated, despite the devotion of our staff. We're incredibly thankful for the support we've had over the years and hope that new, greater communities blossom out of our absence. With lots of love, Hackulous TeamNo doubt the most significant consequence of this closure is the termination of support for Hackulous' Installous app. As mentioned, Installous is (was?) an app that lets jailbroken iDevice users install pirated or unofficial iOS apps. Note, though, that it is in no way associated with Minecraft Mobile "developer" (read: scammer) Installous. For the Installous jailbreak app to work, the Hackulous repository must be up and running, which, as of today, it isn't anymore. This is "a small victory against app piracy," declares iDownloadBlog. I can't help but agree. Source: Hackulous Via: iDownloadBlog
