Shelf Control: Welcome The New Year With A New Free E-Book From WaveCloud

December 31, 2012
Want to welcome the new year with a new book? A new e-book, to be precise. A new e-book that also happens to be free, to be more precise. For this week's edition of Shelf Control, I'm going to tell you how you can score a free e-book of your choice through WaveCloud. WaveCloud is a relatively new online e-bookseller. It offers a variety of e-book titles across different genres. Once purchased and downloaded, these titles may be read on your iDevice using the official WaveCloud Reader for iOS. Now, if you're raring to learn how you can select and download your free e-book from WaveCloud, here goes … First, you have to visit the WaveCloud website. Fair warning: the site makes for an awful browsing experience on the iPhone or iPod touch, but it's all right on the iPad and, of course, on a desktop. Notice on the site's homepage that WaveCloud is currently holding a promotion whereby it's practically buying new customers their first e-books from the site. So, if you're a new customer, which you probably are since WaveCloud is virtually unknown at the moment, then you may take advantage of WaveCloud's special offer. Note, though, that it's open to new customers from the U.S. only. So, if you're a new customer from the U.S., go ahead and browse WaveCloud's collection of e-books. If you see a red tag on a title you're interested in, then that means that it's available for the offer. Once you've decided on your selection, just click the Buy button. Don't worry: a 100 percent discount will be applied accordingly at checkout. Next, you need to register to WaveCloud. Again, don't worry: no credit card information will be required of you. But you have to make sure to confirm your email address to complete your registration. And that's it. The free e-book of your choice is now yours. The only thing left to do now is to read it. And to read it right on your iDevice — be it an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad — you need to download the free WaveCloud Reader in the App Store. After downloading the app, launch it and log in to your WaveCloud account. Then, go to the Get Books section of the app. There you'll see your newly acquired e-book waiting to be read. Tap the Download button, wait a bit while the e-book is being downloaded, and enjoy your new read for the New Year! If you know of other sources of free e-books that can be read on iOS, or if you have general suggestions for Shelf Control, please feel free to email me at aldrin@appadvice.com or simply leave a comment below. Happy New Year, fellow iOS bookworms! [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
